Ultimate set of Irons would prob be Cleveland TA-1 Gunmetal irons. Then lets through in KBS Tour Black steel shafts.

And my 5 golf courses would be Pebble Beach, Augusta National, Butler National, St. Andrews, and Erin Hills after the redesign.

Best and worst rounds of golf you have ever had?

Best round Mike would have to be when I birdied the last 2 holes at Fox Valley to shoot 70 -2. Best round in competition was when I shot 75 at Cog Hill’s #1 course.

My worst round of golf was when I shot 103 when I had a High School Tournament at White Pines Golf Course. Wish I could have that round back!

The first thing I thought of when I saw this today was Happy Gilmore. When I was working today a member where I caddy at had this putter in the bag. It is a hockey stick slightly modified to be a putter. The company that makes these is called Hockeystickputters. You can purchase the Hockey Stick Putter with any of the 30 NHL team themes as well as 3 college themes. Those being Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin. And for the really true hockey fans you can order the Vintage Teams, Winnipeg Jets, Minnesota North Stars, Quebec Nordiques, and the Hartford Whalers. All putters come with a headcover with the team logo on it and will run you $115.

Srixon Z-Star Tour Yellow

I finally got my hands on Srixon’s NEW Z-Star Tour Yellow golf balls the other day. My first impression was that they looked more of a greenish yellow than a driving range ball yellow golf ball. But I was able to play 15 holes yesterday with them and absolutely loved them! I didn’t seem to loose any distance from the Pro V1′s and the previous Z-Star model. But I did notice that the Tour Yellow do feel softer and spin a bit more. I personally never seemed to be bothered by the greenish/yellow ball…and if anything I found that it was easier to find your golf ball in the rough. I definitely suggest giving these new golf balls a try.

Hey Everyone…I haven’t posted in awhile due to my last few weeks of college have been very busy. But all things have to come to an end and I am officially done with college, who knows what lies in store for me now. Anyways..I am surprised I haven’t seen these shoes before yesterday but I found Nike’s take on street golf shoes at Nikeshop.com. The shoe is called Air Rate and they are some pretty interesting looking street/golf shoes. I feel that I would have to see these badboys in person before I would purchase them.

My First Experience at Augusta National….Masters 2010

Golfers who have gone to Augusta National always tell other golfers who haven’t been how unbelievable it is. I traveled down to Augusta National on April 6th to enjoy a Tuesday practice round and it was even more unbelievable then everyone says it is. There isn’t a weed on the course, the bunkers are deeper in person, and the slopes make you ask yourself how people can play the course. What I never expected was how great they treat the patrons (spectators) at the course. It is set up for for your viewing pleasure. Here is what they do for YOU…..

-Augusta National opens the front gates at 7am to let the patrons go to the gift shop and see the players warm up on the range. The course gates open at 8am.

-They have areas blocked off for the young patrons (16 and younger) to be able to stand and get autographs from the pros easier.

-There are scoreboards all over the course….every patron will not miss a beat on whose making a charge.

-They have areas near the putting greens where people can only sit, no one can stand in these areas, along with that, if you put your chair down to hold a spot no one will mess with it.

-Lastly, everything is very fairly priced. I got a polo, hat, pin flag, yardage-book, and a belt and only spent $150! They also have an area where you can check in your gift bag so you don’t have to carry it all over the course. The food was even cheaper. $1 for chips and cookie, beer was $2.75, and chicken sandwich was $2.50. And on top of that the line went very fast even with all of the hundreds of people getting food. I believe I waited 8 mins or so.

I started off the day by waking up at 4:30am in Aiken, had breakfast and made the about 45 min drive to Augusta to be at the gates 6:30. Soon after we went to the gift shop bought my goodies and then headed to the range. Low and behold I spotted the #1 player in the world bombing drives. Once the gates opened I followed Tiger for about 5 holes then caught up with him on the back nine. Then followed Phil for a bit, then Freddie and Tom Watson. What was also neat was the fact I was walking the course with some of the great teachers of the game as well. When I was following Tiger, Hank Haney was in the crowds of patrons following him too. And late in the day I followed Trevor Immelman, David Leadbetter was walking next to me as well! I was even able to see the King himself cruising the course in a chart. My favorite spot on the course had to be the 16th hole. They let the patrons sit on a big hill left of the water as well as all along the right side of the water. In person it is like a big amphitheater. When Tiger chipped in back in 05 I can imagine how loud it had to of gotten. The majority of walks from the green to the next tee are sooo short. It was probably on average a 10 yard walk. The longest walk is from 10 green to 11 tee and that is prob 100 yards because that tee is set deep in the corner of the course. There are probably so many more things I could say but I am still in awe of the experience and if I think of them Ill be sure to post them.

It was truly a magical place and it was so great to see Phil win. Every golf should make an effort to make it to Augusta National once in their life.

Cleveland CG 15 Wedge

To Cleveland Golf it is. They created a great stand alone viral website called “YearoftheWedge.com” This site give alot of great information on the new groove rule along with information on the whole entire line of Cleveland Wedges. There is also a nice video where the President and CEO of Cleveland, Greg Hopkins, goes over the cliff notes of the rule.

I am looking forward to trying out some of the conforming grooves and compare them to the non-conforming ones. Has anyone noticed a difference?
